All you OS X fans finally get your punishment. Don't say I'm ignorant, I use OS X at work and XP at home, and I vastly preferred XP. Windows Vista is going to be amazing. You will be able to turn the computer on and off so quickly. And one of my favorite new features is the ability to use those USB cartridges as ram and plug it in and take it out at any time. Now you don't need to get a lot of ram on your computer and laptop, but simply get a USB cartridge and switch it to the machine you're using. The new interface is very cool, sleek, smooth, and easily to live with(curse that annoying dock on OS X!!). And best of all, Vista is about a trillion times safer than was fragile XP. That's because IE is no longer built into the OS and the new security tools are much more abundant. Thank you Microsoft!! -

FOR A NEW OS YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD MAKE IT EASIER. INSTEAD IT IS MORE DIFFICULT AND THE DARN THING DOES WHATEVER IT PLEASES. IF YOU MAKE CHANGES IT WON'T KEEP THEM. OUTLOOK DOES NOT WORK RIGHT, AND THEY ELIMINATED EXPRESS WITH SOMETHING NEW THAT IS A PAIN TO WORK WITH.
I JUST DON'T GET IT, WHY SCREW WITH SOMETHING SO MUCH THAT IT CAUSES SO MANY PROBLEMS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO COMPLETELY CHANGE EVERYTHING TO MAKE SOMETHING BETTER, JUST WORK WITH THE PROBLEMS AND FIX THEM. NOT ONLY THAT NOW IT IS NOT EVEN COMPATIBLE WITH SO MANY PROGRAMS AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT IS ABOUT, ALLOWING US TO HAVE VERY FEW OPTIONS OR HAVE TO UPGRADE OTHER SOFTWARE TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA....THE TYPICAL SCAM!! I ASKED WHEN I BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER IF I COULD GET WINDOWS XP BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY WITH IT, BUT NNNOOOOOO WAY. -

With Mac housing Intel now I think thats the way to go. It's a shame cause I do like Windows. Looks like Linux will have a bigger chance at the mainstream market after this release! -

just a bit ago i recived Windows Vista Build 5308. its very nice, looks gorgeous. and only problem is that it was running my CPU at 100% constantly. i have a high-end computer so i cant really explain this, but otherwise its awesome and blows XP right out of the water!! -

My comment is directed to the two warring factions of Mac and PC users. Do you all remember when Apple switched from OS 9 to OS X? Yes, the growing pains were unreal, but lets compare OS 9 to OS X. It was a HUGE leap forward. HUGE! No comparison. Mac users that had 9 and switched to X, couldn't wait for all X native software so we could bag 9. Do you see the same comparison between XP and Vista? Didn't think so. This is a ho-hum upgrade at best. -

First of all, let me state that I do not love Macs nor do I love Windows (or linux). I am an avid programmer and graphics designer. I use Windows based machines for my work (I do not even own a Mac).
I have been using the newest Vista build for a week now. I was very excited to install it on my machine. However, it has dissapointed me in many ways. First of all, I can't use the "Aero glass" because my graphics card isn't compatible. Not that big of a drawback because it is an old card anyway. I also felt that I did not have as much control over the operating system as I did in XP. When I would click the "1 click shutdown" I felt like I was being lied to! My monitor would turn off, but my PC light was still blue (indicating the computer had not shut off yet). Most of the time, I had to wait several minutes before it would actually shut down completly. One thing that annoyed me the most was the way you navigate through folders. I felt like it was displaying too much useless information to me when I wanted to get from one place to another. Even downloading something from Internet Explorer was an ambiguous task. I was constantly switching back to "classic view" because the new design is clunky.
It seems like Microsoft took XP and put a pretty shell on it (a shell I can't even run on my card) and changed the way you navigate. A lot of the new features introduced are strait from OS X... the sad part is they don't even do them right! -

Enterprise defragmentation should mean converge on Linux/Unix/MacOS servers and desktops, z/OS on the mainframe. Get Windows out of the enterprise!! -

Wow, I can't wait to switch to a Mac. Windows Vista doesn't appear to offer anything making it worth upgrading to. If you would like to have George Orwell's 1984 as an operating system, be sure to upgrade ASAP. Say goodbye to making legal copies and/or backups of your multimedia. -

I think it's about time Microsoft upgraded their OS with a new look albiet some will say it looks like an Apple OS copy. However, being a Windows user already I couldn't care LESS about that rubbish. If Windows wants to give it's users better looking interfaces and features than so be it. But it's not required to upgrade at all, unless you're involved with business just be happy you'll be getting something new to work with!
The only time I'm going to upgrade to Vista is when I'll need a new computer. When that day comes 3-4 years from now, ofcourse I'll be reluctant to get a Windows Vista-based system.. besides Windows is all there is anyway. Windows is what most of us use and I'd rather not leap into the 'Apple minority' when I already know Windows by heart; and it runs damn fine too!
