Go look at the x-box FAQ page and see the 50+ pages of people telling nightmare stories about it. Between the echoing, the syncing problems, the range problems, the AWFUL support of the x-box customer service who seem to take their sweet time helping you while they claim your the first person to call with the sync up problem. Yet their own website has hundreds of people claiming they called. **ALSO people claim that certain controllers will not accept the wireless headset no matter what, yet no one knows which controllers work with it and which don't, so your basically shooting blind when you buy this product. If you could get one that you know will work (try a friends on your controller possibly??) then id say go get one, but until they fix these flaws id hold off on purchasing one..
just a note...i know a few friends who have them who say theirs work perfect..so it seems to be a total crap shoot... I've already gone back to my wired one until i can get this wireless thing working properly.Updated
i recently tried connecting it to my other controller( which i bought separately from my 360) and the headset works great. i've had a few instances where i have been kicked out of a chat room because it picks up the fan in the room (sensitive mic) but other than that, it works superUpdated
well ive know had the product for well over a month and use it all teh time..it still does not connect to one of my controllers..the problem is that it connects initially but then will drop the mic after a minute or two..i then have to disconnect my controller and turn off the mic and turn the mic on again sync it to player 1 then turn on the other controller and it works fine...this is very annoying since both my controllers look exactly the same (obviously) but i hav marked the one that works with a sticker now(very hi-tech i know) so i know the difference and can aviod that situation. the mic works pretty good now although soemtimes it can echo which is super annoying... -

It is constantly bleeping out. It takes a while to get it to start working. It is just crap, don't bother buying it. You might as well take your money and flush it down the toilet if you are planning on buying it. -

for those that will have difficulty syncing it with a controller i found that when you turn on the controller also turn on the headset at the same time and it should connect correctly. its got bad range and often times will humm and bizz while playing online with others, hopefully they will fix this problem cause right now they wont even acknowledge it, they suggested i return it -

When I first bought the XBox Wireless Headset it would have deserved 1 star based on the many connection/sound issues it had. I was forced to put it away for a month while Microsoft sorted out and fixed the problem. One of their many online updates in late '07 fixed those problems, and after nearly a year of use I can honestly say this is a great buy for any XBox Live multiplayer fan.
Initial syncing to your console/controller is a simple process of pushing the 'sync' button on all 3 items. Within 20 seconds you should be at synced and ready to go. The 2 sizes of ear clips the headset comes with should be fine for most users, but I'm sure children with small ears will find it loose and/or falls off. For me, the small clip is perfect and the headset is snug without being tight, and after a couple minutes of play, I forget it's there. Sound quality is excellent, and friends on Live tell me my voice is clear and without the loud background hum that intially plauged the Wireless Headset. Volume & Mute controls are located on the outside of the earpiece and are large & easy to use. The Mute button doubles as the power On/Off (Simply hold it down, as opposed to a quick push to mute). The headset also indicates which controller it's synced to with a small green LED numbered 1 to 4 on the inside of the mic arm. All in all, a tidy little package that gets many (many) hours of use during my Gears of War latenight marathons.
That last statement brings us to one of the headset's 'Cons'. Battery life is listed as "up to 8 hours of battery life per charge" on the XBox website. 5 - 6 hours is what I'm getting, but I must mention that I don't leave the headset plugged in charging after each use. I fully charge it, then disconnect it until I'm ready to use it. Sometimes it will sit for few days so maybe this is on me. The other issue I'm having is that my headset won't sync to any other controller but the one I originally synced it to. Any attempt to sync it to another controller results in the headset picking the next unused quadrant and showing up an a controller. Even weirder, when my chatpad is attached to a controller I can sync it to that controller easily, but when I remove the chatpad, the headset drops out and again moves to the next available quadrant. Bizarre!
Regardless, with the correct controller in my hands, the XBox Wireless Headset is sweet music...well, more likely trash talk, to my ears. -

I really love this product but do not let it go completely dead or it will not recharge. You start hearing beeps than recharge quickly. Can not tell if you have the mic muted until you hear the beep but I really do love this headset. -

I bought one in Jan 08 and was thrilled with it. I had no problem syncing it and I liked not having wires. Yesterday someone said I was breaking up so I turned it off and when I tried to turn it back on...nothing. Won't even light up on the charger so their troubleshooting tips won't work. Of course MS won't fix or replace without a receipt and I had a hard time figuring out who to contact about warranty -

This headset is like any other when it comes to sound quality. But the design is so bad, that this thing is something that you would avoid wearing. I tried this thing on once, and wow. The ring that fits around the ear is too big, and it isn't even adjustable. It just flops around on your ear. To make it worse, the speaker is in the shape of a lump. So the speaker doesn't fit in your ear, it tends to push it away from your ear and is anything but comfortable.
Overall, if this wasn't so terribly designed, I would've had a better rating for it. -

I bought this headset out of my hatred of wires. I wanted the whole setup to be wireless. Too bad this is the most uncomfortable headset every created. I read reviews that complained of the same thing but said that you would get used to it. I never got used to it. The wraparound your whole ear thing just irritates you. And even though the set was fully charged and synced with the controller it would beep constantly.
