I ordered this machine online, directly from Lenovo, in early February (when it first can available). At the time, I was instructed that I could expect delivery within 1-2 weeks. Two weeks went by and I received an email informing me that there was a delay and I would now be receiving it in 4-6 week from the date of order. 6 weeks came and no PC so I called Lenovo, at which time I was informed that there had been another delay. So I asked if Lenovo was going to do anything, even small, about the inconvenience. Say, express shipping when the PC did get there. There response was deal with it. When I inquired about when I could expect the PC, they said Im not exactly sure; well have to get back to you on that.

At this point I lost my patience, and asked to speed to his supervisor. Eventually I was passed on to Lenovos customer care group, where at least I was treated with a little more care. I must admit, the lady I spoke to was very polite, and was trying extremely hard. She even gave me her full name and direct phone number, which was more than I had expected, but it also set my expectation that this was not going to get resolved any time soon. Two calls later, I had an answer to my first question; I now have an expected delivery date of the second or third week in April. A full 10+ week after I ordered the PC. Interestingly, Lenovo has temporarily removed this product from their web site.

Now, being an executive in the computer industry, I understand that from time to time you can expect some unforeseen delays that are completely out of your control. It is times like these that separate customer centric companies from corporate centric companies. Specifically, whos best interests are they going to act in? When IBM owned the PC Company it was a simple; based on my prior experience, they acted in the best interest of the customers that where adversely affected. In the case of Lenovo, the verdict is still out, but I have not been impressed so far!

Ill update this post as I have more information, or as the situation warrants. In the mean time, be forewarned.

My t60p was provided by my employer, and is the machine I use every day to make a living. I'm using an external 19" LCD monitor, external ergo keyboard & mouse, as I'm not a fan of any laptop keyboard.

Overall I'm pleased with the system, with the exception of battery life. On a recent Baltimore to San Diego flight I chose to watch a couple of DVDs. After the first, the battery was down to 35%. I made it through about 60 minutes of the 2nd before running out of juice. 3 hrs vs the advertised 5-6.

Nice processor, 2 gig of ram, 100 gig disk, 512 meg ATI video processor. I can run 4 VMware virtual machines (2 linux, 2 windows) on the system and still have it be VERY responsive. The beefy video processor makes it an OK box for gaming as well. :)

If I needed a personal laptop and price wasn't an issue, I'd buy it.
