The best part about my new Slingbox Solo is knowing that theyve got an awesome customer support department to lean on. Im one of those guys that tosses the directions aside in favor of figuring things out myself. I will admit however that I did look at the directions for a few seconds. After fiddling with the software setup for about 15 minutes I decided to give their chat support a try. I got Cathy. We chatted for a few minutes and I followed her instructions but I eventually gave her control over my system and watched her whiz through my multi firewall setup. Its certainly not a real difficult task to setup the Slingbox equipment, but setting up port forwarding can be challenging. I have to tell you and everybody reading this review that my 6 minute CS experience with Cathy was the best CS experience I have ever encountered. Anybody thats purchased network equipment and had to contact the manufacturer knows how frustrating it can be. Most of the time youre speaking to someone in India that knows much less about your equipment than you do. None of that at Slingbox. They know their stuff.

My girlfriend just gave me a Solo for an early x-mas gift. Yes, she is great, and no, you can't have her!

The Solo practically set's itself up. You only have to unbox it and plug it in. I am watching it from my laptop and also downloaded the mobile viewer for my PocketPC (Treo 700w).

The PC application works seamlessly although I've only tried it over the LAN so far. I'll try it remotely from my office tomorrow. I travel several weeks per month for work so I plan to use the Solo a lot.

The PC application was up and running quickly. I only have the trial version but for $30 it seems like a deal. My only issue is that this application doesn't have audio output on my phone. I'll try a re-install but as everything else was easy I'm sure it'll work just fine.

Oh - go and buy a Sonos system while you're at it. It's my other favorite toy!
