Loved this camera at first. Six months later, it's a very different story. I started noticing lots of noise ( little dots visible throughout the images) - even when using a flash or taking photos in great lighting. Next, the mode selector messed up, changing modes on me without me touching the dial. I sent it in for service. Now guess what - they messed up an internal setting so my 7 megapixel camera is taking photos at 640 x 480 pixels - an unprintable and tiny size!! It should be taking photos at about 3,000x 2,300 pixels. As far as I can see, there is only one place to change this: Menu - P. Quality - fine or standard. But my camera is set to "fine" and it's still not producing the right size.
So, the service centre says to call Sony (1-877-sony) for technical support and the automated system puts me on hold for over an hour with no response EVER. And the service centre itself is so far away from the city that it's a 40 minute drive for me and I've already had their service centre screw it up once. Now, I've just passed the date of sale and my warranty is up. waiting for Sony to e-mail me about this problem, but not expecting much. This will be the last sony product I EVER buy.
Oh - did I mention that both times I was at the service centre someone else came in with a problem with the exact same model of camera? Do not buy this camera. In 6 months or a year you will regret it!!! -

This is an amazing camera. It is a 7.2 megapixel camera. I love that it comes in colors such as pink, aqua blue and silver. It records videos too. It is very easy to navigate and learn how to use too. The zoom buttons are right next to the button that takes the pictures so it is very easy to use. I had one that broke, it was still a sony cybershot but it wasnt this model, hopefully I wont have that same problem with this model. Overall it is a very nice camera, that is worth buying -

Terrible
0.5/5
I own two other cybershot cameras, a DSC P50 2.1 mega pixels that is six years old and a DSC P73 4.1 mega pixels that is about three years old. Both cameras are great with fantastic picture quality, especially the DSC P50 which has been a workhorse. I've easily taken over 10,000 pictures with that camera.
The new cybershot DSC w55 I purchased in Aug 07 takes unusable pictures. The biggest problem being red eye, blurry, dark and uncrisp pictures. Basically useless. The red eye is what finally pushed me over the edge. Every picture I've taken with this camera, all the settings, all different conditions and people has given me pictures with red eyes or the devil eyes, it's awful. I've tried working with Sony on this but they've been zero help. I am now sending the camera to their repair shop in Texas but I dont' think it's a repair issue, it just takes lousy pictures, it's a bad product but they won't give me my money back. Stay away from this product. I would still be using my old camera but it stopped charging after all these years. I'm really stunned at how this has turned out. I own Sony everything and just figured this was a no brainer but what an absolute awful product this is. A camera that takes unusable pictures? I don't care how cool it looks, it's useless. -

I really don't know which camera the "Editor" was reviewing when they submitted this camera as having a plastic body, because this is definitely a metal-bodied camera. If you look under the "SPECS" on here it even says it has a metal body!
Love the way you can take this right out of the box and take such clear pictures!!
My teenager bought a pink one (She has dropped and abused it and there are no problems at all!), I loved hers so much, that I bought this one for myself!
Overall, if you just want an inexpensive, easy to use, point-and-shoot, digital camera; this one is perfect SONY quality!
