Its a really great camera, especially because I'm 13 and grown through many a camera, this is the best one I've had for $200 dollars (I got it cheap {$155} at Walmart.com) and it is really great. Ive taken About 10000 Shots with it so far and it is still working really good. -

I am holding off on buying a digital SLR until after the holidays; most of the time, I will probably use my $700+ SLR to point and shoot anyway, so I decided to pick up a Kodak M1033 in the mean time. I chose black -- the most "sturdy-looking" of the available colors.
The main reason I like the camera is that it takes so little time to "boot up" when powered on and is instantaneously ready to shoot. However, after having the camera a few days, the startup time went from about a second to several seconds ... I finally figured out that the higher capacity the SD card, the longer the camera needs to boot up.
I was using a 4Gb card -- I switched back to a 512k and the camera is instant once again.
The picture quality is quite inconsistent in artifical light ... what can you really expect from a $120 camera, right?
At the end of the day, its nice to have a camera in my pocket to take those shots that come up unexpectedly from time to time.
Would I recommend this camera? I'm on the fence .. I wouldn't recommend against it ... but that's not much of an endorsement. -

Updated on Dec 14, 2008Oh, I forgot. I HATE THE KODAK SOFTWARE. I didn't even install it with this camera.
I mean really, the software is just horrible. -

Love to use it. Takes crisp clear pics. like the big LCD display in back. Battery last awhile. The price isn't bad at all, but shop around first. Some places have it for to much and other places have it as a great deal.
Plus it's easy to use. Once you learn it. -

Terrible

I had another kodak camera with only 5mp that my daughter used at an event with moderate lighting and it took better pics than the M1033. It has an automatic scene detection but its the equivelant to having Gomer Pile select your camera setting. It chooses Macro for most all shots. The flash is a little to be desired. The bottom lin... If you arent concerned about interior pictures then I would get one. Otherwise, learn from my mistake and buy a Nikon s550 or Canon Power Shot -
