The jiv mini is a great computer! Small and very portable. I got mine with the multimedia keyboard which is ironically based on old IR technology despite the fact that the jiv has bluetooth capability. The IR keyboard has to be in visual line of sight with the jiv to transmit signal. The concept of integrating a nubby mouse onto the keyboard is a thoughtful addition but navigating the nubby is extremely painful - in frustation i went back to my ms bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Overall, ive been very happy with the jiv it provides another tivo like source to record tv programs and its great for my daughter with her Dora games. Pair this up with a 50" plasma using your plasmas RGB port and your stylin. Incidentally, I tried to attach the jiv to a DVI to HDMI port and the best resolution I could get was 720x480 - which blows! Thank God Vizio has a RGB input now its cranked to 1300x720. I'd be cautious if your only input is HDMI. Theres also a s video output port which i would never use anyway because of its lower quality in video output. -

I have two of these and love them. They play music, pictures, and video well and the remote is particularly easy to use. The form factor is ideal for home theaters. I'd like to order a third, but they are no longer available, and there isn't a replacement yet. Only a standard headset audio connection is provided. I'd prefer to see HDMI or an optical connection as well. Media Center occassionally hangs and requires a restart. Sometimes you get sound with no picture again requiring a restart. Setting up to play iPod videos and other Apple media is possible, but requires some real work. The wireless keyboard was only a penny, but it is clunky. I suggest using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I also suggest streaming the media to the Winbook Jiv Mini from some other network storage device, such as the Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ with more storage. -
