I do not understand why microsoft would market a system with so many limitations as the XBOX 360 Core. You cannot save profiles, game progress, play xbox live, play old games (halo 2, etc), and you cannot get the full benefits of HDTV since it only comes with the component cable. I agree 100% with the editors review. Getting the 360 core will only frustrate you. I am returning it and getting the 360 version. -

The Xbox 360 Core System is a very cool and fast system. The core retails for about ¬100 cheaper than the HDD version. In my opinion the more expensive HDD version is a better deal. You pay an extra ¬100 and get ¬210 worth of add-ons. Games are too expensive to the new Xbox at ¬70! I sold mine and got a PSP. Games for the PSP are only ¬40. The PS3 is a more powerful system. XBOX 360 also has some cooling problems. The fans are not very quiet. The system can sometimes shut off due too overheating and report on the ring of light that there is an internal fault! -

I own the core system and I have since bought the add on 20GB hdd for backwards compatibility. My reasoning for buying the core was because I did not want to deal with the wireless controllers because they have lag and will need to have fresh batteries put in or recharged every so often. When I was using my friends system before I purchased my own I remember playing DOA and having to deal with the lag from the wireless controller. Not fun. The optional HD DVD player IMO was a good idea because most people won't even be playing on hi-def televisions so to have it built in would only benefit a small percentage of people. At least for now. I personally will end up buying all three systems because of games I want to play that are only on certain systems. -

I heard about a lot of people getting free xBox's, iPhone's, iPods, etc. and decided to try it. At first I was extremely skeptical but I did a lot of research and found out that this really is a way to get a free xBox 360. All you do is sign up, complete an offer from the sponsors and refer 12 people.
Have a look at this video first:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug
Go to this website http://www.360Elite4free.com/index.php?ref=4265809
Click the sign up link and create an account. You can either choose a referral account or a points account. The referral account is definitely easier and completely free. All you do is get 12 people to register using your referral number and you have completed your obligation.
Choose the Xbox 360 Elite Premium (or whatever prize you want).
Then click the "OFFER" tab at the top and choose 1 offer that you will have to complete. I think the Stamps offer is the easier and most cost efficient.
You will need to give a credit card number to complete your trial of the Stamps software - just cancel it after 21 days.
Fill out the requested info and then download the software. Install the software and launch it - you will get a $5 credit to your newly created account. Use it for stamps or whatever and you have fulfilled the sponsor's obligation.
Now go back to your account at 360Elite4Free and it will have a referral link to copy and then send it to everyone you know or post it. After 12 people complete the steps using your referral link, you obligation is completed and they will send you a free Xbox 360.

I waited in line on launch day to get my system, and honestly, I should've waited. It's a great system, but there weren't a lot of games for a year. Now, there's enough to warrant anyone owning one. Plus, Microsoft has backed it by replacing faulty systems (Three red lights of death? Oh yeah.) Mine broke a month after the warranty expired, and a couple months before Microsoft extended the warranties, but they replaced my system free of charge anyway. Nicely done! Plus, the controllers are great. I throw them-HARD-and they work fine. It's cheaper than a PS3, and now they come with HDMI ports. If you don't have one, go get one and play Halo 3 and soon, Mass Effect. -

The core is not really worth the money. Unless you don't play online. If you are like me and play online. Then you are going to want a Hard Drive. So you can store all those extra maps, games, music, movies, etc. Also with wireless controllers are a great improvement. But a bad move using 2.4 Ghz wireless technology. Being next gen but at old school tech. Should of went with Bluetooth boys(girl) at Microsoft. Other than that this beast runs HOT!!! Even with its extremely load fan. This thing still freezes every 45 mins.....I guess when ever the warranty is up. I will be upgrading some fans..... -

This is a great overall system that encompasses a lot of great features in this one package. Essentially this is a super computer that as of now you would be hard spent to match with a desktop PC. Not mentioning the wide variety of games, which there are, the other multimedia aspects of this system, including the ability to play music, view photos and watch movies off your computer are more than worth the price. And if you don't have an xbox 360 elite yet here is a great hassle free link to get one for FREE!

Just sign up for a free service get a few referrals and your set. Sorry for making this seem like an advertisement but I'm just trying to help those who can't afford a 360 to get in on the action. If you want more info just drop me a thread.
Anyways great system that everyone should own. -

it is worth noting that the core system does not have the shiny on the disk tray, so therefore both of your pictures and video are incorrect.
