Excellent
2.0/5
Stylish phone with a 2.0 megapixl camera. I'm hard of hearing, so I wanted a phone that had enough volume so that I could hear it without having to turn on the speaker phone and let everyone in the area hear what I heard (my wife's Motorola Razr wasn't loud enough). The button to navigate between functions is too small and very difficult to use. It routinely dropped ATT's signal while other ATT phones in the car with me did not have any problem acquiring or keeping a strong signal. I turned it in for a Nokia N75 which is much less stylish, but is much more user-friendly (and which -- so far -- seems to work fine). -

I was so excited to get this phone, but after a week, I am very let down. The volume is very low, ringer and speaker. On speaker phone, the sound quality is very poor. You can not connect to your PC via bluetooth and send files. There is no software to support bluetooth a connection either. The camera takes nice pictures if the lighting is just right, but after an evening where I took about hundred photos, not one of them came out, even with the flash and other settings.
Since I couldn't send the photos via bluetooth to my computer, I had to save all the photos onto my micro card, put them into my Samsung Sync (previous phone) to upload, which took me over an hour because there is no way to select multiple items and transfer them all at once like there was in my razor and sync.
My problem with the joy stick isn't that it moves too quickly, it's that it's too large to use with your finger tip and too small to use by pushing your fingers on it's side. You have to slide your fingernail behind it, which makes it impossible to use the phone with one hand.
There are also a few other little annoyances. For example, If you use the buttons on the front of the phone to select a caller, you have to open the phone to hit the green or red buttons. If you use the buttons on the inside of the phone, you have to use the ones on the front to make changes. Jumping from the bottom to the top is annoying.
Again, I was very excited to have the newest, coolest phone, but I'm sending it back. The Sync and Walkman, though not as cool looking, are both far better phones for design and features. -

Good

I purchased this phone and returned it a month later. The phone itself was beautiful and I liked the slider mechanism. The only reason I got rid of the phone was because I got a terrible signal. Half the time the phone wouldn't even ring, even if I had a decent signal. I ended up trading it in for the Sony Walkman and have great service with that phone. -

Over all I am very happy with the LG Shine. It's very sturdy, cute, filled with alot of features I'm still learning and the Silver has a very professional look. Finally a cell phone that looks and feels like a high powered product and not a toy. -

Overall I am very happy with this phone, it has very good battery life and feels real good in your hand. It feels and looks like a quality product. The sound is clear and not to low or loud. The keyboard is a little small but that ok to me. I am not big into texting allot. The joystick takes some getting used to, but once you do it not a problem. The camera takes nice pictures too. I am glad that I bought this phone and would do it again. -

This is an awsome sleek phone, but with its brush meatal finish it tends to get alot of scratches that make it look bad. So i went to PHANTOMSKINZ.COM and got a protective film for it. it fits great and you cant tell its even there. it wont scratch!! Anyone that is intrested in protecting their device should check it out!! -

so, this is a review from an eighteen year old girl who has had a cellphone since she was twelve. i'm rather tech-savvy and very active with my phones; constantly out, texting, talking, listening to music, checking facebook/myspace/email, etc. oh! and i'm an amatuer photographer with a canon rebel xt, so you know i have something to say about the camera.
last year, i got the black samsung d807. many people i knew cracked their screens but it was very durable for me as i dropped it on cement and other surfaces plenty of times, but one day, i pulled it out of my pocket (after walking around a bit) and the screen was cracked. i was heartbroken. i temporarily used a razr from my friend (though i've had one before) and i hated it.
yesterday, i was eligible for an upgrade and definitely leaped. i looked online at all the phones available at at&t; at first glance, i thought the lg shine would be quite a piece of crap so i disregarded it and drooled over my dream phone, blackjack ii.
later, i stopped by the store to look at all the phones live (because that is the main way, i think, for anyone to pick out a cellphone) and was drawn to the lg shine immediately. as i walked over to the latest samsung slider, mesmerized because it came in different colors, i couldn't help but glance back over at the lg shine, walk over, and play around with it. i left the store, met up with my mom, went back, and got it.
i have the black one and it's absolutely gorgeous. it's very solid. it's a bit weighty, but it's not as though it's impossible to tote around. when i first turned it on, it makes a lot of noise. especially whenever you select something but you can silence that. i love how i can personalize my background with a simple digital clock (large or small), analog clock, or calendar. as for the wallpaper, if you don't have a picture you'd like to use, there are dozens of colors you can pick and that will be your solid background. i like the home button (on the right side of the phone in between volume & camera buttons) because, lets say you're texting and get a phone call.. after the phone call, the home menu can take you right back to messaging (assuming you can be as lazy as i often am!). the calls are quite clear and loud enough and i find the speaker to be sufficient (though i have yet to attempt it in any other setting other than me just in my room). i do not find the joystick to be such a horrible thing nor do i think the keypad is really difficult to deal with (but i understand why someone would feel that way). i really like how i can decide how i want the message tone to go; ring once, go off every 2 minutes, go off every 15 minutes, ring & vibe, vibrate, or silent. though i think it would be better if it could be ring & vibe all the time while going off every 2 minutes. i can check my email, sign onto aim, and check my facebook.. i looove it.
one of the biggest things for me about this phone is the camera. yes, it's simply 2mp but it is lovely. when you turn the camera on, you get to hold it horizontally (like a regular camera) and can click the camera button to take the picture. also, there is the option for flash (though not incredibly strong, still, it's great). it needs to be a bit more stable but other than that, i am incredibly pleased. you can also do various color styles & change the white balance and crop the picture.
there are a few things that make me unhappy with the phone.. i got a memory card (for pictures & mp3s) and a memory card reader/adapter but unfortunately, you can't set mp3s as ringtones. it's not too much of a problem because i can still make my own. i still use the mp3s; the music player isn't, for example, one to use as a means of entertainment for a group of people but it's good enough for a person or two in a quiet setting. you can't change the message tone, and that's one thing that really bothers me with a lot of phones these days. but the 10 options provided are not so horrible. i also really believe that when you personalize someone's ringtone, that should play as their message tone as well, unfortunately this phone doesn't provide that. it's true that when you talk on this phone it gets hot. i don't think it's something i could leave out in the sun or in the car during a hot day (thought that i would intentionally).
so that is my long review for the phone i've had for almost 24 hours.
it's a beautiful, user-friendly phone and i'm absolutely in love with it. i have yet to scratch it/drop it, so we'll see how it will hold up then, but i feel that it will still be terrific.
