Noooo! Just after I buy my Nintendo DS, they have to come out with something better! I know I can still play my games on my regular DS, but this is just so much cooler. I wish I could trade mine in to get one of these, but I wouldn't have enough money to cover the gap.
Oh well.
But forget my griping, YAY NINTENDO!!! -

This highly anticipated redisign of the DS offers everything you could possibly want from a redisign. The screens are brighter and more colourful, a thicker stylus is easier to grip. Volume controls and start and select buttons are much easier to manage. The power button is now located at the side of the button and is operated by a sliding motion to prevent accidental switching off of the DS during gameplay.
The developers ramped up the power slightly as well. The previous DS had excellent battery power but the lite is now capable of higher battery life even at the higest brightness setting. The DS lites backlight is now always on, and the subtle problems of brightness inconsistency between the two screens has been resolved. It now has four brightness settings, the lowest setting which is titch less bright than the original DS, a higher setting for gameplay in direct indoor light, an even higher setting and finally a maximum brightness which makes the games playable even in direct sunlight.
There are a few noticible flaws though. The minor is that, while the DS lite is still backwards compatible with GBA catridges, the GBA cartridge slot doesn't extend all the way into the system. The major lies within the mic, it's awkwardly positioned, and, maybe it's just me, but it seems much less sensitive to blowing than it used to be, you actually have to breath into the mic.
But the DS lite is a excellent system and a superb redisign.

I have a psp and love it. It is a great system. When i first saw this system i wanted it. It is a semi worty opponant in " looks " but not even close in game play or graphics. Nintendo needs to do what sony is doing, start puming out NEW games instead of the same old same old the games are getting boring and way too predictable. Sony is perfact with most games. Its going to be impossible for nintendo to catch them. But if sony's perfact than nintendo's at terrifac and close behind but behind.Updated
ogvor said that the nds lite is smaller than the psp(witch isnt tru) . the ds is shorter than the psp but not thinner. -

reallyy great system, small compact, and bright. just know that you will scratch the touch screen, and that gba slots stick out a bit. also, the stylus is on the side and bigger, which makes it a lot more useable.
if you have a oldish ds, buy this, it is worth the cash! -

Nintendo DS Lite Review:
I never bought a Nintendo DS when it first came out, the system seemed too bulky and the games that were out seemed childish. After seeing the new and improved DS Lite, I had to get one. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
-The screen has 4 brightness levels, all changeable. The lowest is still brighter than the original DS.
-The stylus is bigger and better.
-The system has a new sleek look, the outside is the same surface as an ipod, giving it a nice futuristic look.
-The charge time is relatively quick, about 3 hours for a full charge.
-The bottom screen is much better than the original DS, and does not have a washed out look to it.
-The volume button is a sliding switch.
-The on/off switch is a slider now as well.
-There is a slot cover for advance games.
-WIFI capabilities. This means you can play online if you have a router to connect it to. If you do not own a router, you can buy an accessory at nintendo.com that makes your PC a host to play from.
-Multiplayer abilities are also great, you can play about 30 feet away from each other, with up to 4 DS systems, using only one cartridge. (may very per game). You can also send game demos to other DS Lite systems (Brain Age for example).
-New games are fantastic. I recommend starting out with the New Super Mario Brothers. It is an easy game to learn for children new to the series, and a return to the classic for people who loved the NES and Super NES Mario games. Also, Mario Kart DS is very good and has WIFI abilities. Brain Age is a great new game that makes you think and is a lot of fun. It is great for children who are just learning math and great for anyone else who wants to keep their brain sharp.
-Certain stores (BestBuy, Gamestop, and EB Games) offer download kiosks where you can download new demos for upcoming games.
Cons:
-Some people have complained of dead pixels. Every DS Lite I have seen (including mine, my friend's, and every demo version in the store) have not had this issue. If there is a problem, Nintendo will send you a new unit and a box to send you old unit back in. Pretty good deal.
-Some people have complained that the sound is a little lower than the original DS. -

I recommend getting the DS Lite over the original DS. If you already own the DS, I recommend you wait for a price drop since it is the same thing. I never owned a DS, but love my new DS Lite. (For people in the US, I recommend you buy the white one since the black one whould scratch like an iPod and won't be released for quite a while....
For people who want to see the battery life comparison for the PSP and DS Lite, here it is.....
DS Lite
Lowest Brightness:15-19 hours
Second Brightness:10-15 hours
Third Brightness:7-11 hours (recomended)
Maximum Brightness:5-8 hours
PSP
4 hours DS Lite Wins
I love my DS Lite!!!!!!! -
