HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE 2006: Find the perfect holiday gift this season

Ultimate setups: TVs

You can keep your puny 70-inch HDTVs. For our ultimate setup, we'll take a home-theater projector, namely Sony's $10,000 Ruby, which achieved the highest score we've ever given to an HDTV. We'll connect it to our Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player, the best video source going, and restrict ourselves to watching just HD-DVDs. Wait, you're saying there are only 100 HD-DVD movies? OK, we'll deign to watch regular HDTV from our Series3 TiVo connected to Denon's midrange receiver and KEF's cool-looking satellites, controlled by a big Monster clicker. We'll also take our high-quality video on the road with the Slingbox Pro.
